 Forest Tapestry
Artist Statement
I have seen my work evolve from expressing the local landscapes that I love in a realistic manner, to a much more abstract and interpretative approach. I try to make my work fresh and contemporary yet remain firmly tied to Canadian artistic heritage. Finding new ways to evoke the many moods of our forests and coastal waters, the clouds above them, and the seasons that come and go, is a way of making my work come alive and be interesting for the viewer and for myself.
Biography
I grew up in the Canadian provinces of Ontario, Saskatchewan and British Columbia and also in France. I started painting after retiring from teaching elementary school in Victoria, British Columbia.
