Artist Statement
My discovery of beads opened up a whole new world for me -- it allowed me to study the history of the people and cultures relating to each bead and beading technique and design. How could one not grow studying such history!
Along the way came the knowledge of how to strive for balance and harmony and peace in all things.
Beads are a wonderful medium for translating - an image, an idea, a feeling. They can be used with other beautiful mediums for creating -- vibrant threads, textured cloth and yarn, and other glass. (to say nothing of their portablity!)
I love introducing and teaching others about beads -- both the history and wonderful designs and techniques, but I think I am most centered and peaceful when I am able to create a piece that allows others to see the beauty in something I have seen or felt.
Now, when I see something that moves me --- a lava flow, a waterfall, a sunset ! -- I want to set it to beads!
