Artist Statement
I have worked in watercolour for the last 25 years because it has filled my need for detail and soft integration of colour. Now, I am branching back into acrylic in search of more powerful light and richer colour. It is time for a change. I paint somewhat realistically but am more and more experimenting with the interpretive. I am now free to paint when I wish and I am delving into different techniques and ideas. I hope you enjoy my new avenues in painting.
Biography
Ingrid de Jong is an artist living in Qualicum Beach, BC on Vancouver Island. Her formal art studies have taken place at the University of British Columbia and at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Geneva, Switzerland. She specializes in watercolour painting and is now painting on canvas with acrylic and w/c on yupo paper. She is the past president of the West Kootenay Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists, a member of the Arrowsmith Chapter of the FCA and is an associate member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolor.
Ingrid has displayed her work in solo and group shows over many years. Her works have also been purchased for restaurants, businesses, medical clinics and private homes. She has done commissions for clients in Canada, Switzerland, Japan, England, Fiji and the United States.
