| The Siltcoos outlet, a great kayak outing, is a favorite subject of mine. As a retired environmental geologist, the processes which occur between river and land are particularly captivating, such as the half submerged snag which is not only providing habitat but also capable of assisting in either bank accretion or erosion depending on river flow. Watercolor on yupo. |

I work primairly on a paper called Yupo, which is a slick, plastic surface originally designed for professional printing. This appeals to me because watercolors do not sink into the paper and lose any brilliance and because of the curious and interesting drying patterns that can be encouraged with the use of a heat gun. |
