"Kokoro" means "soul" in Japanese. In this work, figures seem to unfold, fanlike, bending backwards like leaves in the wind, while a strong, central figure is trying to pull them forward.
Inspired by dancers of the Japanese 'Bhutto' style, this work expresses the striving of the human soul looking for direction and meaning in life. |
Mixed media on canvas, 3x4 ft., heavily textured, earth colours.
