Artist Statement

What you are about to see is a body of work reflecting his faith, convictions, values and passions regarding his family and church as well as the arts, music, politics, sports and entertainment. These topics are expressed through a variety of style from Traditional ( watercolor ), Impressionism, Futurism to Abstract, Semi-Abstract, Color and Design to Polinearism – A new way of seeing.

May 12th 2005, Pol S. Herrera was invited by the Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center as one of the featured artists for their annual kick-off season gala. “ A Night to Remember” at the Pleasantdale Chateau in West Orange, N. J. One of Pol’s signature paintings was put in the premier silent auction. The piece in the auction was created in a “ Polinearism “ style, a new art form which he created.

“ POLINEARISM ” – A New Way of Seeing.

Art Manifesto:

According to his own definition, “ Pol-inearism “ is an art form that is based on the philosophy that an artist should have a passion and love for music as well as a love and passion for people, ( John 3:16 ). This discovery came about while trying to release his tensions from his daily chores as he doodled human figures and faces on napkins with a blue ball pen while thinking about music. Someone saw it and inquired about what type of art form it was and he was inspired to create a definition for this art form that was distinctly his, and came up with the name “ Pol –inearism “ which is defined as the following : a line drawing with multiple lines, from the root word ( poly– lines ) coming from different directions giving a shape, depth and form that is a conglomeration of impressionism, futurism but linear in genre. This art form is based on the inspiration that artists receive from personally having a passion for music and for people. A whole idea is not to copy reality – but wanted to interpret picture – wanted to find visual symbols that would stand for people, objects, and nature.

‘ Polinearism “ is a form of entertainment, that after the actual musical performance, someone can host a gallery art show, or museum art format and power point presentation in the business offices for the people to see, enjoy with ectasy, seeing themselves in a Polinear character. Thank God, I’m priveledged to share this art genre to my peers, friends, to my hometown, Livingston, and to the whole art community. “ Polinearism “is therefore, another cross – disciplinary innovations in Art. A new way of seeing, where love and warmth were especially evident.

As an involved member of his church, The Living Stone Chrtistian Fellowship ( TLSCF ). He created many giant colorful banners and paintings for various events that the church sponsored. He composed art pieces through cut-and pasted colorful felt material with the application of color and design with themes that come from the inspiration of the Holy Scriptures. Pol paints with a scissor instead of brush as he did those detailed banners.

TLSCF Logo: 1 Peter 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

“ The Lord has made everything for his own purposes. Just look around. Everything created by God reflects His glory in some way from the smallest form of life to the vast milky way. We are each given unique gifts, interest and abilities to develop and use for His glory and honor.”
