WRITING: Robyn has been published regionally and nationally in both newspapers and magazines, including her own column and editorials in North County, San Diego. She spent 15 years in radio as everything from news director to on-air d.j., her last station was with KABC in L.A. Her years as a radio journalist also allowed her to do over 60 hours of documentaries on Hawaiian history and culture which inspired her to begin her current project which is the first of a historical fiction trilogy of the Hawaiian story. In addition, she is a second year grad student at Columbia College, Chicago and is also teaching creative writing through the school using the Story Workshop Method developed by writing pioneer, John Schultz.
FILM/VIDEO: In Hollywood for over fifteen years, Robyn did everything from PA to producer working with some of the elite in the entertainment world. At Columbia, she added post production to her quiver of skills and her first asst. editor credit is on a documentary by Media Process Group of President-elect Obama's trip to Africa!
She has several documentary projects in process and is focused on topics that will bring greater understanding between cultures.
ART: Robyn has worked in a variety of mediums over the years. Her work in
the seventies was shown in and around the Chicago area to dynamic reviews.
Though she had no formal training in her early years, she spent many a day scouring the
Art Institute for her favorite artists who helped her with the angst that
the 60's wrapped around most people who cared. Her favorites being
Picasso, Dali, Michaelangelo and Davinci.Today she adores O’Keeffe,
Gaughin, and the post impressionists. Her studies focused on the content
and the revelations that artists exuded in their work and how it related
to the world. As a ‘sixties’ child, she has ever been the rebel and found that she could not separate her painting from her writing. Most of her
paintings include a story that is placed in her yearly art book...Art with a
Story.
Robyn’s work is a volcano of expression utilizing vibrant
colors and the gentle whisperings from the heart of her world to help
others touch the heart of theirs.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT: My work is
to create portholes through my pictures and stories so that I can share
what I learn and hopefully encourage others to also find out the 95% of us
that is similar to ‘the other’ and learn to celebrate the 5% that’s
different! My greatest belief in life is that everything is always perfect!
